Destroy the Evidence

Stella’s husband calls while she is with her lover in their bed.

“Hi Irvin, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing sweetheart. I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be home in about ten minutes.”

‘Oh, I thought you weren’t done work until three. What happened?”

Stella pushes Floyd away as he keeps kissing her neck.

“What was that dear?”

“I said, there was a small fire in the office. We’re being sent home early so it can be cleaned up.”

“Okay, see you them,” she says and hangs up.

“Floyd, you need to leave now, Irvin is on his way home.”

They both quickly put their clothes on. Floyd gives Stella one last kiss and leaves. Stella scurries around the bedroom making sure Floyd didn’t forget anything. She yanks the sheets off the bed and re-makes it with clean ones.

As Stella passes the mirror, she notices several large red marks on her neck and right shoulder.

“Oh dear,” she thinks. “How do I hide all of that?” Quickly Stella opens the closet door and searches for long sleeves and high neck tops.  Not thinking about it being summer, she throws on a long sleeve turtle neck sweater.

“Hi honey, I’m home.”

Stella glances around the room once more before she goes downstairs.

“Hi Irvin, how bad was the fire?”

“Just a bunch of stuff in the filing room. There was smoke everywhere, so I’m going up to have a quick shower. Oh, by the way, Stella, I noticed you have on a pretty heavy sweater. Are you cold?”

“I had the air up too high earlier so just slipped this on. Go have your shower.”

Stella now is in a panic about how to hide the evidence from Floyd’s passionate kisses. She gets out her make-up kit to see if she can cover up the evidence that way.

Irvin walks into the kitchen as she is heavily applying make-up to the larger mark on her neck.

“What’s that on your neck Stella?”

“Oh, just a rash this thick sweater made. I’m just putting some ointment on it.”

Irvin walks over closer.  “It sure doesn’t look like a rash to me. It looks more like a hickey. So, Stella, how did you really get that?”

“Irvin, it’s just a heat rash. See the medicine is helping it go away already,” she says while slapping the make-up on even thicker.
